how to pay your rent

There are a few different methods available to you when paying your rent; we recommend making yourself familiar with all of them so you can decide which one is right for you.

macquarie DEFT payment systems

Macquarie DEFT Payment Systems offers a variety of different payment options to suit your needs and preferences. Make payments anywhere and anytime, online or over the phone, by all major credit cards or customer initiated direct debit.

With direct debit, you have the option to manually make payments when it suits you or set up automatic recurring payments.

At the start of your tenancy you’ll be provided with a DEFT card with your own DEFT Reference Number and instructions on how to set up your chosen payment method.

The following fees are payable by the tenant when using DEFT:

Direct Debit Payments $0.85 per transaction
Visa / Mastercard 1.50% of the transaction amount
American Express 3.30% of the transaction amount
Diners Club 3.773% of the transaction amount

Dishonour Fee – Enquire with your bank regarding what the fee is and when it may be charged to you.

credit card

Using Macquarie DEFT Payment Systems, you can pay your rent via credit card either online or over the phone, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Please note that surcharges apply for this payment method, refer to the fees listed above.

BPAY

Using your DEFT Reference Number (and the DEFT biller code found on your DEFT card), you also have the option to pay your rent via BPAY using your own internet banking account. As with any BPAY payment, you can do this at anytime and can also set up automatic recurring payments.

BPAY is a great option for people who don’t want to be slapped with fees when paying your rent. You won’t be charged a fee to use BPAY through your existing bank.

direct bank transfer

If you’d prefer to take care of your rent via direct bank transfer using your own online banking, you can! For smooth processing, there are a couple of things to remember when paying your rent this way:

  1. Triple check the bank account details you’ve entered. If you’ve entered the wrong details, it can be extremely difficult trying to get this money back from your bank and you’ll be out of pocket while it’s being sorted out.

  2. Include a reference. If we receive a payment into our trust account with no reference, we have no way of knowing where it has come from and this delays your rent being receipted. Make sure to include a reference such as your property number and street name to speed things up.

You’ll be able to find our trust account details on your lease agreement. Street Ninety Nine - Property Management Brisbane
